We would like to provide you with an explanation of the “EVAAS Achievement Probability” located on your child’s middle school information card under math recommended placement.
EVAAS (Education Value Added Assessment System) was developed by SAS and is available to all NC school districts courtesy of the NC Department of Public Instruction. All WCPSS principals have been trained in the use of EVAAS. It has been used to place middle school students in math classes since last school year. EVAAS calculates the probability of success when a student enrolls in Algebra I/Common Core Math I (8th grade). There is no teacher component in the decision for your child’s math placement.
